Making the decision to undergo a plastic surgery procedure is a very personal decision. As you weigh the pros and cons of your potential surgery, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to make your choice.

As you know from your initial consultation with your physician, there are risks associated with any surgery, especially those where a general anesthesia is used. If your procedure is for medical reasons such as a breast reduction or eyelid lift, you may feel as if there is little choice in your decision as you’ve been enduring pain for a set amount of time.

However, if you’re considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure such as collagen injections or microdermabrasion, you can opt not to go forward with the procedure if you feel there are too many risks. In most cases—as you consult with your doctor—you’ll be introduced to plenty of cases where a successful procedure has been completed and the client is completely satisfied with the result.

In order to obtain a successful surgery, you’ll want to have a positive attitude going in to the procedure. During recovery, some patients don’t see the immediate results they were hoping for and can sink into a slight depression. However, as the bruising fanes and the swelling subsides, the patient generally becomes more satisfied with their results.
